The Cookout Print

$125.00

Expressing the negative emotion towards food insecurity in Africa.

Description

This piece explores the negative emotion felt by African Americans towards food insecurity in Africa. Depicted is a classic family cookout scene. Africa remains the continent with the most acute food shortages, due to adverse weather, drought most notably, and social instability. This piece addresses the emotions of guilt felt by African Americans who are unable to help the large numbers of Africans in need. This piece addresses the reality that many have to enjoy life as it is given and ignore the negative emotions of guilt. This is shown by the carelessness of the figure who picks up a piece of meat, ignoring the small African child hanging from it.
